Course content includes a series of lectures, presentations, practical sessions and visits so that on completion of the course:
- You will understand relevant aspects of the racing industry that you will be required to engage with as a licensed racehorse trainer (rules and regulations, handicapping, making entries, declarations, non-runners, balloting procedures and reserves, etc.)
- You have a clear understanding of your legal responsibilities in relation to running a business (public liability insurance, employment legislation, health and safety legislation, business management and financial planning and budgeting, staff management, legal issues, etc.)
- You have exposure to experts in a broad range of support areas in relation to the care and management of racehorses (veterinarians, equine nutrition, farrier, horse welfare, gallop maintenance and management, bloodstock sales, etc.)
- You have the opportunity to benefit from further insights into the horse racing industry. (local yard visit, media communication, marketing & social media).
